TRAINING GOLFDUST

Training golfdust is the latest fancy gizmo rolling off the production line in the States. Here at WhichOption we like our golf, so when murmurs of a new gadget were spreading, our ears pricked up like a rabbit hearing lettuce had been found to be an aphrodisiac. And with the sport of golf growing in popularity at the same rate as Charlotte Church's waistline, the demand for aides is increasing massively - people want to hit the ball straighter and further and with as little effort as possible. It's quite lazy really.

There are a lot of gadgets to try and help you improve your swing, but what actually matters the most is how the club contacts the ball. Your swing can be as ugly as someone looking like they're trying to kill a snake in a phone box, but if you make clean contact with the ball on the right part of the face of the club, it doesn't really matter. The aim is to get the ball in the hole, right?

Impact tape was the first product for helping players and pro's alike know where the point of impact was. It certainly does its job, but do you really want to mess around applying and pulling the tape off every time you want to check your shot? In an ideal (and lazy) world, the answer is no. But now there is an alternative - training 'GolfDust'.

We heard about it by chance - a Friday afternoon web surfing session stumbled across it actually. This GolfDust stuff literally just sprays on and wipes off. Easy peasy. Spray it on the face of the golf club and hit the ball. You'll instantly be able to indicate the point of impact between the ball and the club - simple really.

Changing your stance, your grip, club length or various other options will affect the point of contact with the ball. Knowing where this point is can help you determine beneficial changes and eliminate detrimental changes. By throwing a can in your bag, you can easily check the point of contact, on the driving range, or on the fairway.

We don't want to sound like those annoying TV salesmen - like the fool who shouts at the camera "Have you tried new Cillit Bang? Boy does it shift these greasy stains" Well, I haven't tried it actually, and if you carry on shouting at me like I'm deaf, it'll be your blood stains that need shifting with that spray… So without shouting at you, we'd like to point out we don't have first hand experience of this training GolfDust stuff, it's more of a case that we heard about it, like the idea and think you will too. When something is so simple in it's concept and function, you don't need to sample it to understand the idea. The idea itself is good enough, one of those 'why didn't we think of it first?'

Anyway, training GolfDust is yet to make it over to the UK, but until another alternative becomes available, it will surely only be a matter of time before it hits our shores (and like John Leslie hanging around at the Playmate of the Year awards, we wait with eager anticipation).
